Recently we were asked how to download videos directly to the iPad and avoid USB transfer through iTunes.
After some research, Geoff discovered that it can be done using a $.99 App available through iTunes Store, called ‘Goodreader.’
I prepared a ‘how to video’ about getting porn onto the iPad.
It should be noted, Goodreader only supports ‘legal’ iPad video file types. “You have to make sure that your video files have one of the following extensions: .mov, .mp4, .m4v, .3gp.” On the video, I’ve shown how to watch ‘illegal’ video file types on the iPad, with mixed results. It should also be noted, Goodreader highly recommends USB file transfers through iTunes on computers as it is much faster. But I can see how the ability to download video files directly from the Internet, while traveling for example, would be highly useful.
Well, the dogs and I made it through New Year’s Eve, Just Barely. Both Buddy and Aida got very upset by the fireworks. At 22:00, I turned the TV up very loud and we went to bed. Everything was OK, sort of until Midnight when the fireworks erupted. By 02:00 everything had quieted down and the kids went right off to sleep. It took me awhile longer after living through their distress with them. In the morning, they were fine, except they didn’t want to go out at their regular time. Usually, they are pulling on my jamjam leg by then to take them out. But they went out. At noon, I knew they’d completely recovered when they both laid enormous dumps.
At 18:00 on New Year’s Day is the main city fireworks display. It’s scheduled so the kids can enjoy them. I went with a visitor to Shooters’ Island. It was not as crowded this year as last. And it seemed that the display was a somewhat hardscrabble, recession display. But it was nice. Marco Gregory, of our production staff, made a very nice video. Hope you enjoy it.
Boris, on the other hand, was the least bit squeamish about filming the carp stands and came up with a pretty cleaver ploy. He went to a carp monger and bought a fish. Then he said he’d like to film the butchering process. Oh, no problem. Must not be some pinko animal rights activist. The fish monger would certainly have been correct thinking that.
SERIOUS WARNING: The footage in Boris’s little video is EXTREMELY GRAPHIC.
Each year, I ask our guys to go out and photograph an old Czech Christmas t radiation, the slaughtering of the carp in Prague. Marco Gregory said he’d rather not. Filming the carp mongers becomes more dangerous each year, especially now that the animal rights people have started picketing the carp stands.
Instead, he went to Prague’s Old Town Square and made a very nice movie of the festive Christmas atmosphere. Marco made this film using a stills camera. It’s pretty nice, even though it’s not professional quality. The size of the Christmas tree is much smaller this year after a disaster a few years back when a much larger tree fell over with near fatal consequences.
The Old Town Christmas Fair is great and the atmosphere is always lovely.
And then I had to take it in the keester from a member of our staff for publishing some of the above links:
“The article in Times that Klaus said that he is never going to sign it
has proven to be a big lie made up by people from Times. These are the
sources you use to create your completly misleading opinions. It as
wrong as we would start telling you how should Obama proceed with
health care reform. It is simply internal issue and no other country
has a right to interfere in it. It is simply not our business as it is
not EU business to order us to sign something or to do something it
must be lead on a deal and contract aprovement basis. We have a very
bad experience with orders coming from far away that is something what
can someone who grew up out of CZ and other east block countries NEVER
understand as history books and newspaper are not a real life
experience !!! EU is a partnership not Moscow to order things and
therefore they should treat us as partner not as a slave no matter
what someone else may think.”
