We have a dark day in the studio today. We’ll pay the price, however, as we have duo shoots scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. Then I believe Monday and Tuesday will be dark again as the electricians do some more wiring on the ‘new’ studios.
I received the following by email this week:
‘Hi Mr. Higgins and team,
please don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to criticize your website: I think it’s one of the best and the boys you are presenting to us twice a week are mostly cute, interesting and fascinating. It’s not easy to serve all viewers’ taste, but I think you’re doing a great job.
Nevertheless, there is one point I would like to indicate here: I don’t exactly know when you started changing the format of the photo-shoots, but in former times we had Rado or Jirka, the photographer, who interacted with the models, who told the guys what to do, which arm to raise, which move to make. We thus had a variety of photos taken from different angles, we had changing settings and varying stage properties and above all we had total pictures or full-length port raits where the models don’t always touch the dick (I prefer pictures where you can see the whole body without the model’s hand touching and hiding his erect penis).
Then, three or four months ago, you changed the format: now we have the model acting in front of the camera, telling us that he wants to have sex with 3, 4 or 5 girls, and then follows a stripping and jerking-off session which is as stereotyped as it can be. There is hardly any change or alternation, no word or intervention by the photographer which inevitably leads to a somehow monotone and stereotyped procedure and which in comparison to the former format has got rid of its early charm. When there was an interesting photo-session with a fascinating guy I always downloaded the zip-file, but nowadays I sometimes catch myself not wanting to save a cutie’s file as you have too many pictures taken from the same angle.
As I already mentioned above, I don’t want to criticize your site, I just want you to clearly see the differences between the two formats: being a participant of a cutie’s photo-shoot has always been for me of a much greater interest than just being a voyeur watching a wanking guy. The interaction between the model and photographer has always been the most interesting feature of your website and not the fact of a guy bringing himself to a climax which can be seen everywhere on the web.
I hope I was able to express my comments in an adequate way and I would like to know whether you have been receiving similar e-mails during the last weeks or months. Before I come to an end I would also like to ask one more question: what has happened to all the older high resolution videos (for example Adam Salda, Daniel Student, Radek Kozelsky or Lumir Kowalski)? Will they ever be published on your burn.dvd-site as a wmv-file or are they gone forever? Since you’ve changed the new videos I start loving the older ones.

I’d like to make the following comments: Fair enough that the writer believes the erotic solos are ’stereotyped as it can be.’ When we started this site, over ten years ago, we had to prepare everything via 56k dial up modem. At that time, stills and the Internet were about the only thing. Video was very problematic. When we introduced video, size had to be small, otherwise, no one would be able to download it. Well things have changed. Now we can serve up near or DVD quality videos via the web. I’d been a ’stills’ man myself. Then I discovered the great entertainment value of watching very high quality videos. My preferences switched from stills to video. In fact, when Misha left to tend bar in Spain, I took over his job, not as first cameraman but as second cameraman. I gave up shooting the Backstage stills.
To me watching the documentary videos of the solo shoots was like watching grass grow or paint dry. So touché. I decided to switch the video to interplay with the camera (and the viewer), not a documentary approach. Or to put it another way, it’s the difference between the objective and the subjective.
Then I received the above comment. Upon careful reading, I decided the writer made some important points. What do you think?
Here’s what we’ve decided to do: From now on, when we film the solo stills preview, we’ll do a documentary of that. Viewers can watch and hear the models interacting with the cameramen. Then we’ll film the erotic video, where the main player switches from the stills cameraman to the video cameraman. I realize this is a waffle solution. Trust me, it’s never possible to satisfy 100% of the viewers all of the time. My own personal preference: I prefer to watch the model interacting with the video camera without a photographer sticking his head, shoulder, whatever into the picture. And I SURELY don’t want to hear the photographer talking to the model. However, now that its been brought to my attention, I can certainly understand the other viewpoint. Consequently, we’ll try to satisfy both. This is a work in progress.
The other day, I received this comment, which I’ll quote in part:
‘or..2) can people share/explain the erotic enticement of feet….a subject which i must admit completely escapes me…hands.yes….a well turned leg….a shapely bum…yes…I turn my camera on these whenever i get the chance….but feet – I am missing something….’
A few years back, George DuRoy and I were riding in a van-bus up to visit some castle. He asked more or less the same question. I answered: “Feet are the most important fetish.” That is of course if you don’t consider dicks and assholes to be fetishes. I went on, “There are all kinds of fetishes, like armpits.” He responded, “Well, that’s one I cannot see….”
His boyfriend, who was riding with us, jumped into the conversation: “I’m very, very turned on by armpits.”
And English friend of mine once said, “I like to see dicks, but only fleetingly, and not very much of the dick….” Well, OK.
I told him, “it doesn’t count to me as nudity unless you see the dick.” He looked at me “like what planet are you coming from.” I don’t believe the site would last very long if I followed his fetish.
We receive lost of requests from Asians asking us to show soft dicks. I can see that one. But I also like to see the dick hard. It’s very difficult to convince the photographers to shoot some soft dick shots. In a later post, I’ll discuss the long discussion I had with Boris and Rado about foreskins. That one they just couldn’t comprehend.
Those are some thoughts, with that I’ll get out of here and throw it open to discussion.
